News *Sept. 2007: Michail Gkolias, a Civil and Environmental Engineering Ph.D. Candidate, and a researcher at MIEMP Laboratory, received the 2007 NJDOT Research Showcase Student of the Year Award. The NJDOT Research Showcase Student of the year award is given to a student who contributed a significant achievement to transportation research through work on a UTRC research project which was sponsored by the NJDOT. *Sept. 2006: Michail Gkolias, a Civil and Environmental Engineering Ph.D. Candidate, and a researcher at MIEMP Laboratory, has been selected to be a receipient of the Gerondelis Graduate Scholarship Grant. This scholarship presented by The Gerondelis Foundation, Inc., is given to outstanding students. *May 2006: Michail Gkolias, a Civil and Environmental Engineering Ph.D. student, and a researcher at MIEMP Laboratory, has been selected to be an Eno Fellow by the Eno Transportation Foundation’s Board of Regents. Michail ranked second among 54 exceptional candidates. The Eno Transportation Foundation was founded in 1921 by William Phelps Eno who pioneered the field of traffic management in the United States and Europe. Mr. Eno sought to promote safe mobility by ensuring that traffic control became an accepted role of government and traffic engineering a recognized professional discipline. *May 2006: Michail Gkolias, a Civil and Environmental Engineering Ph.D. student, and a researcher at MIEMP Laboratory, has received the GAR Foundation Award. The GAR Foundation is a private, independent foundation established in 1967 as a charitable trust by Galen J. Roush, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Roadway Express. Today, GAR's assets total approximately $180 million. The Foundation has distributed over $145 million since its inception to support charitable organizations within the Foundation's areas of interest. * April 2006: The graduate program on Maritime Studies from the University of Piraeus visited MIEMP during the week of April 3rd. CAIT and MIEMP hosted thirty students and two faculty members. Lectures and site visits agenda are available online. *2005: Neha Mittal, a Civil and Environmental Engineering Ph.D. student,
and a researcher at MIEMP Laboratory, received the Greater New York
Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS-GNY) 2005 "Leonard
Braun Memorial Graduate Scholarship" Award in the amount
of $2,500. In addition, Neha also received a University Transportation
Research Center (UTRC) Scholarship Award in the amount of $1,000. |
