The Center has initiated many new programs this past year to help fulfill the educational objective outlined in the Strategic Plan. A focus has been given to more K-12 work, thus expanding our undergraduate recruitment and future interests. Other successful college level initiatives have also been continued such as the internship and fellowship programs as well as considerable hands on activities.
The Education Advisory Committee (EAC), in conjunction with other CAIT participants, initiated and conducted a number of activities as part of building a multidisciplinary program of course work and experiential learning that reinforces the transportation theme of CAIT. The activities are summarized as those:
- oriented towards developing Educational Initiatives and Program that will enable future transportation professionals and researchers to be responsive to changes in the transportation field,
- oriented towards the Enhancement of Program Through Faculty, Certificates, and Course Development for the purpose of attraction in the transportation field,
- oriented towards Community Outreach for the purpose of public awareness in relationship to the importance of advanced transportation solutions, and
- oriented towards Student Involvement for the purposes of recruitment ofhigh school and undergraduate students.
