Taha F. Marhaba, Ph.D., is a professor of civil and environmental engineering and director of the New Jersey Applied Water Research Center at New Jersey Institute of Technology.

His research interests include impacts of raw water quality on drinking water treatment and rapid pollution detection in raw water and treatment processes. His expertise in water quality led to the development of the spectral fluorescent signatures (SFS) technique, which is used to rapidly identify potentially problematic organics in water. Marhaba also has an expertise in droughts, and has been one of New Jersey’s leading commentators on the consequences of the 2012 drought.
