Those who successfully complete both Part 1 and Part 2 will receive a certificate from Rutgers CAIT and the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers.

Description

This three-day course is designed for municipal engineering inspectors who want to improve their overall background in proper inspection of public and private construction improvements in the State of New Jersey. Personnel in related fields may find this course informative and enlightening as well. The course was developed by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers with cooperation of the New Jersey Local Technical Assistance Program at Rutgers CAIT and the American Public Works Association.

Part 1 content includes a review of construction contracts, technical provisions, the role and legal responsibilities of the municipal inspector, examination of the conduit system, the fundamentals of soil compaction, the preparation of concrete construction, and the proper installation of asphalt concrete.
